Sleepy Hollow Music (Pty) Ltd was established in 2013 trading as Marshall Music Midlands at the Cascades Lifestyle Centre in Montrose, Pietermaritzburg.

This website is our online store, and a way to bring internet shopping and good service together with a brick and mortar showroom in the KwaZulu Natal Midlands and environs.

Our staff comprise of competent, working musicians and offer tuition in piano, bass, guitar and drums in store. We also offer restringing and set-up of guitars, basses, violins and cellos, drum set refurbs and basic repairs in store (sometimes while you wait), and have relationships with local luthiers and other instrument technicians. We stock most popular acoustic and electric guitars, keyboards and pianos, basses, ukuleles, violins, public address (PA) systems and amplifiers. We also stock a wide range of strings, capos, tuners, pedals, and cables for most applications.

Every employee can play an instrument or two, and you may see them on stage or behind the sound desk at many gigs and festivals.

This is not going to be one of those Mission Statements you may see hanging on the walls in banks and other large corporate conglomerates.

What we envisage is a store where you can order whatever you wish for online, have it delivered to our store and connect with competent staff to help with advice on the instrument you have bought. We set up guitars to work with your playing style, and we can install studio software on your laptop and show you how to use it if you are new to the wonderful world of sound. And it is a wonderful world!

If we do not have the item you desire in stock, it can be here in a day or two.
We will deliver in person, locally, or by door-to-door courier if you live out of the area.

Schools can take advantage of our weekly service when we deliver items you have ordered, change strings, set up guitars, tune drums, and give basic sound, PA system, and lighting advice to staff and pupils when required.

A perfect local music website, one of those when you Google “Music shops near me,” should have a list of music teachers in the area. Look at the top of our page and you will find that list.

There should also be a list of venues that support live music. Send us your info for inclusion on our site. We will gladly put it there for all to see. It has been so heart-warming to see how many venues, restaurants, and bars are hosting real musicians playing real instruments lately in our capital city. The future looks good.
